So you can’t wait to get to college. Maybe you’re looking forward to four years of freedom and fun. Or you think a college degree will help you get a good job. Probably you’re thinking a little of both. College can be fun, AND it can make your future career possible. How can success in college be within your grasp? Two ways: by taking the CDAP and using the help provided by an academic coach.
1.) CDAP: CAREER DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT PROFILE
Not confident in choosing a major? Advisors are probably telling you to go “undeclared.” That works, for a while. Choosing majors wisely and planning ahead to a successful life and college experience takes some investment of knowing more about yourself. Before you choose a major, you want to find out what area of study fits you best. What DO you want to be when you grow up? What are the fields that “fit you best”? How do you find out what major area of study / career is best suited for your personality, interests, and abilities? Take the CDAP: Career Development Assessment Profile offered by an academic coach to help you avoid changing majors and being involved in a career that is not a fit with you.
CDAP is a 3 hour personality, interest, and ability assessment on CD Rom. After taking the assessment, Dr. Jennifer Lawson, licensed provider and assessment specialist, sends a bound 75 page report to you accompanied by a 2 hour feedback consultation via phone. Call the Center for Psychology & Counseling (479-444-1400) to set up this valuable tool toward college and life success.
2.) ACADEMIC SUCCESS COACHING
One very experienced academic coach is Dr. Lawson. She is gifted in going about assuring success with college students. From her knowledge and skills comes a customized and workable plan for each individual coupled with a specialized rapport that builds confidence and motivation. The sweet taste of success builds more success and that carries forward into future college years and life.
How does it work? The student, either by phone or face to face meets with academic coach Dr. Lawson weekly. Teachings occur weekly: goal setting, time management, mapping course requirements, test preparation, project completion, study skills, brain research links to learning, health and wellness. And students leave the session with a sense of confidence and accomplishment of the week past and the week to come. Call the Center for Psychology & Counseling (479-444-1400) to raise your assurance level of a strong start to college and life!
Parents see big benefits in using an academic coach. An extra layer of support is in place that continues regularly throughout the semester. Dr. Lawson serves as an excellent communicator and liaison with the student/ college/ parent when needed.
Academic coaching is a net. For the cost of an additional 3 hour course, parents can be more assured that the other 15 college course hours are going to be completed and successful. You raise the bar of confidence when your child receives weekly accountability and support. There is less likelihood of dropped and failed courses and changing majors. This equals monetary savings. So, don’t wait until it’s too late. Protect your college investment and assure college completion by calling the Center for Psychology & Counseling at 479-444-1400. And don’t forget, all services provided by your academic coach, Jennifer Lawson, can be completed no matter where you are at, in the US or outside of the US through phone or web.
