Ping.fm came to the rescue in my quest to quickly and easily update all my social media websites by sending a single text.
Sometimes I like to use each of my social networks for specific posts, comments, and blurbs. Facebook is for my family and friends, while LinkedIn is great for my professional network.
But every now and then I want all the networks to get updated all at once. For this, I have found Ping.fm to be the best tool. I send one text and all my statuses for each account get updated in seconds!
I tried using a couple of different services or connecting these account directly through Twitter, but I never got what I expected. Facebook simply got a post and never updated my actual status. Although this has since changed, the rumors and constant changes made me look for a third party.
LinkedIn had other issues when updated from Twitter. Sometimes the Twitter feeds were updated on LinkedIn and other times it wasn’t. I can’t live with that kind of variability.
Ping.fm connects with TONS of other sites as well. Here’s the list as of today:

Ping.fm even has a custom URL feature and they’re adding new sites all the time. You can’t go wrong and it’s easy to set up.
Keep in mind is that the usual limits of each service apply. So the 140 character limit of Twitter remains the same. Keep your Ping.fm updates short to be sure the entire message gets posted.
If you’re posting a link, use Bit.ly as a link shortener. Just copy your link into the Bit.ly shortener tool and use the shortened link in your update.
Pics don’t work, so don’t try to send an MMS text through Ping.fm.
Anybody else using Ping.fm??
