One of the challenges that website owners face is how to choose the right keywords for their pages. Sometimes the website owner has enough research to make an informed decision. Often keywords are chosen that only seem good to the website owner rather than what the customer may really want.
We have a method we use at my firm, Creative Content Experts, to narrow down the field of keywords. The goal is always to improve both the ability for search engines to find your pages and also to improve the customer experience.
When in doubt, create pages that use all popular keyword choices. If your customers tend to find your site using four different keyword combinations, then make four pages. Each of the pages should be optimized for the particular keyword you are using.
If multiple pages are not on option, then gather research. Hopefully your site has some sort of tracking which will show you how people find your pages. Most tracking software will show you the keywords used in search engines to find your site. Start with the most popular search terms in this case.
Finally, you have to know your customers and what they want. If you don’t have a site geared towards your customers’ needs, then it won’t matter if they find you. Keep your content and keywords focused on your customer.
